Studies have shown that people in the LGBTQ+ community are four times more likely to struggle with a substance use disorder. Although this population is at much higher risk, there has been a significant shortage of affirming services explicitly designed to meet their needs. This webinar will show how the new Emotional Attachment Behavioral Therapy (EABT) substance use disorder curriculum designed specifically for the LGBTQ+ community is helping to fill that void. It has demonstrated positive treatment outcomes around the nation for individuals with substance use disorders. Learn how this new curriculum addresses the unique challenges, including attachment wounds, experiences of stigma, discrimination, social isolation, and the stress of hiding one’s identity. We will also discuss the difficulties of building a recovery support system when substance use is often more prevalent in LGBTQ+ social environments.
