HIV: Myth Busters Edition

AUDIENCE: Nurses, Physicians, Social Workers, Certified Prevention Specialists, and Licenced Alcohol and Drug Counselors

WHAT: HIV: Myth Busters Edition will discuss advances in HIV prevention and care and how these advances have impacted those living with HIV; Stigma and its connection to existing myths about HIV; Identify ways in which stigma and belief in myths build barriers to care for individuals at risk for/living with HIV.

Upon completion of this presentation, participants will be able to:

• Identify two ways that treatment for HIV is moving forward
• Describe 2 ways that “Undetectable = Untransmissable” impacts people who live with HIV
• Identify 2 myths that are false about HIV
• Identify at least 2 ways stigma impacts people at risk for/living with HIV engaging in medical care
