This introductory workshop on addiction and recovery is designed to raise awareness and understanding of the dynamics and impact of addiction on people whom we serve. It will cover the neurological basis of addiction; mental, behavioral, emotional, and spiritual dimensions; stages of change; recovery; motivational techniques; and resources.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER: Lindy Keller, MS, MLADC, is a Master Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor who has worked in the addiction field since 1980. She received her A.B. in Psychology and Religion from Duke University and her M.S. in Community Mental Health with a specialization in Dual Diagnosis from Southern New Hampshire University. Her experience includes direct service, consultation, training and administration of programs addressing substance use concerns. She has presented workshops on aspects of addiction, co-occurring disorders, recovery, enhancing change, high‑risk youth, resiliency and families. She has served on the faculty of the New England School of Addiction Studies since 2007. In her current position as the Resources and Development Administrator for the NH Bureau of Drug and Alcohol Services, she is responsible for public and professional education, support for internal systems development and cross-systems policy and program development.
