This session is part of NAHEWD’s national webinar series Bridging HIV and SUD: Innovations in the Field. The series will highlight various innovative models and approaches to treating substance use disorder (SUD) in people at risk for and living with HIV. This presentation will provide an overview of the ways in which the criminalization of drug use and HIV status disrupts relationships between providers and clients, and outline ways of providing care in hostile policy environments. 1. Education on current drug/HIV criminalization laws. 2. Provide strategies for combatting stigma and engaging people who use drugs. 3. HIV and drug User Health advocacy training.
