Virtual: Co-Occurring Disorders: When Its More Than Dual Diagnosis

Sponsor: New Hampshire Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselors Association

PRESENTATION: This web based training is designed to address clients with multiple diagnoses, especially those who are clients that have a substance use disorder.  The course content is intended to advance your understanding of diagnosing and treatment, and what specific problems and issues arise from multiple diagnoses and misdiagnosis. Examples of diagnostic tools will be covered, as well as aftercare issues and ideas for improving outcomes.  As a result of this training participants will be able to:

  • identify and differentiate several overlapping diagnoses in general, and specifically to the substance using population;
  • understand how Multiple Diagnoses complicates Recovery;
  • describe several aftercare models that improve outcomes and reduce relapse; and
  • list techniques on how to reduce resistance in multiply diagnosed individuals.
