Virtual: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Substance Use

PRESENTATION: This web based training is designed to specifically address how to utilize CBT principals and techniques when addressing a Substance using client.  The course content is intended to advance your understanding of CBT and its utility in treating substance use and addictions. Specific problems and issues that arise from applying CBT in treating substance abusers will be addressed. The importance of aftercare and recovery planning will be covered as well.  As a result of this training participants will be able to: 

  • Learn how to effectively apply CBT in general and then specifically to the substance using population; 
  • Gain an understanding of how Substance Use complicates the use of CBT; 
  • Review several aftercare CBT models that improve outcomes and reduce relapse; and 
  • Gain techniques on how to reduce resistance in Substance using individuals.
