Sponsor: New Hampshire Alcohol & Drug Abuse Counselors Association
PRESENTATION: Contingency management (CM) is an effective behavioral intervention that provides tangible reinforcement for objectively verified target behaviors. In this workshop, we will review the application of CM to promote positive behavior change in SUD treatment settings. Specifically, this workshop will describe the supporting empirical literature, different types of CM programs (i.e., voucher, prize), effective design features, the most common deviations from evidence-based protocols, and strategies for designing and implementing your own protocol. As a result of this workshop participants will be able to describe the structure of two types of CM program; list common deviations from evidence-based protocols and how to avoid them; and describe effective features of CM Interventions and reinforcement schedules.
PRESENTER: Dr. Rash is a licensed clinical psychologist and an Associate Professor at UConn Health School of Medicine. She specializes in addictions research, with expertise in contingency management interventions. She was involved in the national roll-out of CM in the Veterans Affairs programs and regularly consults on CM design.
